About the Nomination Process

Calls for nominations are solicited in an email to all staff, faculty and students from the Dean’s office during the month of September. Everyone is encouraged to submit a nomination for one or more of the categories. Your input is invaluable, and every nomination helps us ensure that we’re celebrating those who make a difference. 

Recipients are recognized at the annual Awards Ceremony held in November in Gladys Valley Hall.

Dean’s Awards Categories

For Staff

  • Dean’s Staff Member of the Year Award

    Demonstrates strengths in the areas of teamwork, positive impact, innovation, and professionalism. Determined by a composite score of each area. Nominators must include information for all categories below.   

  • SVM Teamwork Award

    Collaborates effectively with others to achieve common goals.
     

  • SVM Positive Impact Award

    Contributes to the well-being and productivity of the work environment.
     

  • SVM Innovation Award

    Introduces new methods that significantly benefit the organization.
     

  • SVM Professionalism Award

    Maintains a high level of integrity while producing quality work. 

For Staff & Faculty

  • SVM Champion in Philanthropy

    To recognize a faculty or staff member whose exceptional partnership with the Advancement team has significantly strengthened donor relationships and advanced the mission and vision of the UC Davis Weill School of Veterinary Medicine.

    Eligibility:

    • Open to full-time or part-time faculty and staff of the School of Veterinary Medicine
    • Nominees must have actively partnered with the Advancement team during the past 1–3 years
    • Advancement team members and Marc Coms members are not eligible
    • Individuals or small collaborative teams (non-Advancement) may be nominated
       
  • SVM Wellness Advocate

    This award recognizes a SVM staff member (administrative, educational, technical or research) or a veterinary clinician (faculty, staff veterinarian) who actively promotes wellbeing through intentional actions that positively encourage a culture of wellbeing.
